KENNEWICK, May 25 — Wenatchee pushed across a run in the top of the tenth, then choked off a Tri-City threat to take a 4 to 3 victory in a Western International league baseball game Friday night.
Wenatchee broke a 3 to 3 tie in the tenth. Walt Pocekay opened with a single and advanced on Buddy Hjelmaa's sacrifice. Forest Robertson's single chased Pocekay across with the winning run.
Tri-City brewed a storm in the bottom of the tenth but couldn't quite make it stick. With two out, Mel Reeves unloaded a double and Neil Bryant walked.
That was all for starter Mike Kanshin. Reliefer Tommy Breisinger came on and passed Clint Cameron.
He coaxed the next hitter into lofting a fly ball for the final out.
For starter Joe Nicholas it was his first defeat after three wins.
